Christmas in July

Well it seems that everyone is having Christmas in July lunchs, dinners and parties.
I want in on the roast turkey, potatoes, yams and stuffing action.

I think I will start with eggnog








Foamy Hot Eggnog

  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg, plus additional for dusting
  • 1 cup dark rum

Instructions

  1. Heat milk in a medium saucepan over moderate heat (do not boil).
  2. Whisk together eggs, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg in a large bowl. Gradually whisk in 1 cup hot milk in a slow stream. Whisk egg mixture into remaining milk in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until it thickens and registers 170° F on an instant-read thermometer.
  3. Blend in small batches in a blender until frothy. Divide rum among 8 heatproof glasses and top with eggnog. Dust top with nutmeg.
